New Buoys on Columbia Lake!
Have you seen the new buoys?
There are 8 new buoys on Columbia Lake that look just like this! They are located at the south end of Canal Flats and along the east shore of Columbia Lake. These buoys were installed by the RDEK (Regional District of East Kootenay), to mark the 10km/hr speed restriction associated with the on-water portion of the Wildlife Management Area (5 buoys) and the south end of the lake (3 buoys). These speed restrictions are designed to protect the lake’s shoreline habitat and wildlife and are positioned in locations with ecologically sensitive areas to reduce the impacts from wakes. The buoys are enforced by the RDEK through the Vessel Operating Restriction Regulations which are federally governed.
